Rewiring through epidemic spreading

چکیده
Structure and properties of networks, such as metabolic networks, human relations, and the Internet, have been attracting research interests in various research fields. Some common features have been found in those networks. The origins of such structure have been investigated. Dynamics in networks also have been studied so far. Preferential rewiring processes have been reported for generating scalefree networks[1, 2]. Some researches have investigated the dynamics as an origin of rewiring [3, 4]. The purpose of this research is to investigate the interaction between dynamics and network structure. We employ a simple epidemic model in networks.

Epidemic spreading in evolving networks.
A model for epidemic spreading on rewiring networks is introduced and analyzed for the case of scale free steady state networks. It is found that contrary to what one would have naively expected, the rewiring process typically tends to suppress epidemic spreading. In particular it is found, that as in static networks under a mean-field approximation, rewiring networks with degree distribution e...
متن کاملEffects of local and global network connectivity on synergistic epidemics.
Epidemics in networks can be affected by cooperation in transmission of infection and also connectivity between nodes. An interplay between these two properties and their influence on epidemic spread are addressed in the paper. A particular type of cooperative effects (called synergy effects) is considered, where the transmission rate between a pair of nodes depends on the number of infected ne...
متن کاملEpidemics in Interconnected Small-World Networks
Networks can be used to describe the interconnections among individuals, which play an important role in the spread of disease. Although the small-world effect has been found to have a significant impact on epidemics in single networks, the small-world effect on epidemics in interconnected networks has rarely been considered. Here, we study the susceptible-infected-susceptible (SIS) model of ep...
متن کاملRescue of endemic states in interconnected networks with adaptive coupling
We study the Susceptible-Infected-Susceptible model of epidemic spreading on two layers of networks interconnected by adaptive links, which are rewired at random to avoid contacts between infected and susceptible nodes at the interlayer. We find that the rewiring reduces the effective connectivity for the transmission of the disease between layers, and may even totally decouple the networks. We...
متن کاملImpact of constrained rewiring on network structure and node dynamics.
In this paper, we study an adaptive spatial network. We consider a susceptible-infected-susceptible (SIS) epidemic on the network, with a link or contact rewiring process constrained by spatial proximity. In particular, we assume that susceptible nodes break links with infected nodes independently of distance and reconnect at random to susceptible nodes available within a given radius. By syste...
